In Summary
The CBK Institute of Monetary Studies (CBK-IMS) conducted the third cohort of the two-day Corporate Governance Seminar for the banking sector on 25-26 August 2026 at the Institute. The seminar, themed “Good Governance for a Sound Banking Sector,” aimed to strengthen the effectiveness of bank boards in overseeing governance, risk, and strategic direction in an increasingly complex and dynamic banking environment. It also sought to enhance directors’ understanding of supervisory expectations, emerging governance risks, and best practices that support institutional resilience, financial stability, and sustainable growth. The seminar provided a high-level platform for engagement, dialogue, and peer learning among board members, while reinforcing accountability, a sound governance culture, and informed decision-making at the board level. Through focused discussions and expert insights, it enhanced board members’ capacity to anticipate and respond to evolving challenges affecting the banking sector.
